Traveling with Pets

At Sky High Aviation Services, we provide the service of transporting pets in the main passenger cabin. Pets allowed are cats and dogs.

The transport of pets and their acceptance will be subject to the approval of the government and health authorities of the ports of embarkation and disembarkation.

Conditions

  • The pet must not exceed a maximum weight of 20 pounds.
  • The cage or kennel must be flexible.
  • The cage or kennel must be ventilated and have enough space for the pet to move.
  • The cage or kennel must easily fit under the seat in front of the passenger and must meet the following measurements: 9” x 14” x 14” (23cm x 36cm x 36cm).
  • The client may feed their pet, as long as it remains inside the cage or kennel
  • The pet must remain inside the container during the entire flight.
  • The assignment of seats to passengers with a cage at the emergency exit is prohibited.
  • Only one animal per cage or kennel is allowed.
  • Only one pet per passenger is allowed.
  • The pet cannot travel without a passenger.
  • Pets must be clean and without emitting a bad smell.
  • We do not handle pets in the hold.
  • * We accept a maximum of 3 pets per flight. We reserve the acceptance of the pet considering the condition of the cage or kennel and compliance with the requirements.
  • Note: Does not apply to emotional support and/or assistance pets

Documentation and Health

  • The passenger is responsible for all the necessary documentation for the entry of their pet to the travel destination.
  • Passengers traveling with pets must present at the airport counter: Rabies vaccination card, health certificate, animal health payment form and receipt.
  • The health certificate must be issued by a licensed veterinarian within 30 days prior to transport.
  • The use of tranquilizers for pets is not recommended.
  • Sky High Aviation Services is limited to carrying brachycephalic (flat-nosed) breeds. These have narrow airways due to their anatomy, which causes them difficulty breathing.

Any transported pet implies a charge per route US$100.00
Reservations for pets must be made at the Sales Offices and at the airport counter.

Assistance Pets

SKYhigh Dominicana, accepts pets that serve as service or emotional support, you must notify it at the time of reservation.
These types of pets will be transported free of charge and do not require the use of a cage or kennel, but they must be on a leash.
The passenger is responsible for providing a valid authorization from their licensed physician.

Types of Assistance Pets

Service Animals

It is an animal that has been trained to provide assistance or perform a task for a disabled individual. - They guide a blind person - They alert their owner of possible seizures - They alert their owner of high or low blood sugar

Emotional Support Animals

An animal that is necessary for the emotional well-being of the passenger during the flight or at their destination and that may or may not be trained for that role. - They provide comfort with their presence - They reduce stress, anxiety, depression - They provide peace of mind to their owner

Conditions

  • Dogs will only be accepted as service and emotional support animals.
  • Only one (1) dog per passenger is accepted.
  • The passenger must present a medical document certified by a mental health professional stating the dog's need for emotional support.
  • Notify 48 hours before the departure of your flight that you will be traveling with a service or emotional support animal.
  • Assignment of seats in the emergency exit is prohibited.
  • The dog must sit on the floor, in front of the assigned seat and cannot take up space in the aisles.
  • If the dog is very small like an infant, it could go in your arms. If it is too big to accommodate at the feet, it will try to accommodate a seat with more space, if this is not possible, you can buy an extra seat to have extra space and place the dog on the floor, in front or to the side of your seat.
  • The dog must not go on the seats.
  • Pets must remain with the passenger at all times.
  • The dog may be denied transport in the cabin if it has a bad smell, bad behavior such as barking, growling, attacking other passengers.
  • If you do not meet the travel conditions of the country where you are going, boarding must be denied until you meet the requirements that the country requires. The passenger is responsible for the costs corresponding to these changes.
  • The age requirement for pets is:
    - Service Animal: old enough to have been trained and respond to the instructions of the owner.
    - Emotional Support Animal: the dog must be at least 6 months old.
  • Service Animal:
    - Identification that accredits the dog as a service animal
    - Proof of vaccinations and certificate of good health
    - Documents necessary for your entry to the country you are going to
  • Emotional Support Animal:
    - Medical document certified by a mental health professional certifying that the passenger certainly has a mental or emotional disability and needs an emotional support animal during the trip or at their final destination. The medical document must have the following conditions:
    - - Issue date less than one year from the flight departure date. o Signature and stamp of the doctor with information about his license: date of issue, state or jurisdiction and type of license.
    - - Legible document.
    - - Proof of vaccinations and certificate of good health.
    - - Necessary documents for your entry to the country you are going to.
